Championship Away Day Miles 2026/27
The Championship is, mile for mile, the most demanding division in English football. Twenty-four clubs scattered from the south coast to the north-east, and from west Wales to East Anglia, combine for roughly 62,643 miles of away travel โ more than the Premier League despite the smaller budgets. The longest away day in the Championship this season is Middlesbrough to Portsmouth, a brutal 261 miles as the crow flies, while the shortest is Charlton Athletic to Millwall at just 4 miles.
The Welsh corner is the source of much of the mileage: Swansea City and Cardiff City in the south, and Wrexham up north, all face enormous round trips to the eastern and north-eastern clubs. Middlesbrough carry the heaviest load at 3,741 miles, while the geographically blessed Birmingham City get away with just 1,930.
